The Cleft Palate Foundation offers the following Awards and Scholarships:

Cleft Palate Foundation Leadership Award

The CPF Leadership Award Committee requests nominations. This award recognizes individuals who have provided outstanding and exemplary leadership on behalf of parents and patients with cleft lip, cleft palate, or related craniofacial conditions. It may be presented to an individual or group of individuals upon the recommendation of the Committee to the Board of Directors. The Committee reserves the right not to recommend a recipient in any given year.

The CPF Leadership recipient receives a plaque and a check for $500 towards travel to the Annual Meeting of the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, where the presentation occurs. The 2010 Annual Meeting will take place in Fort Worth, Texas, March 16-20.

Criteria for Selection: A nominee for the CPF Leadership Award must have demonstrated insightful and creative leadership for no less than three years.

Nomination Procedures: Nominations for the CPF Leadership Award should be submitted using the brief nomination form. Please note: The PDF version of the form is interactive. Each nomination should be made by a sponsor and co-sponsor. Because the Committee depends entirely on the information that is provided, it is important that the nomination forms be prepared carefully and completely.

In order to be considered, applications must be postmarked or time and date stamped on or before January 15 (if January 15 is a US Federal Holiday, the deadline becomes January 16).

Cleft Palate Foundation College Scholarships for Students with Craniofacial Differences

The Cleft Palate Foundation is pleased to award a minimum of three $500.00 scholarships to full-time college students with craniofacial differences. Selection is based on past academic success, evidence of leadership skills and/or community and school involvement, as well as strong indications of future academic success. Students at any level may apply; however, preference is given to rising first-year students in any field and first-year graduate students in a field of study related to the management of craniofacial anomalies (for example: genetic counseling, speech-language pathology).

CPF gratefully acknowledges the generous contributions made to the Peter Randall, MD/Don LaRossa, MD College Scholarship Fund. Established in 2009, this special fund recognizes the work of Dr. Peter Randall and Dr. Don LaRossa, both of whom have worked to enhance the quality of life for individuals affected by cleft lip and palate and other craniofacial birth defects. Each year, contributions made to this fund are responsible for covering the cost of at least one college scholarship.
