Cleft Palate Foundation Awarded eBay Grant

The Cleft Palate Foundation has been named recipient of eBay’s Champion-A-Charity grant program. Nominated by eBay/PayPal employee Doug Hegarty, CPF will direct the $2500 grant toward enlarging its collection of publications with the addition of its newest Spanish-language booklet, Desarrollando Bien el Habla (Developing Good Speech). CPF expects the new booklet to be available for distribution by year’s end.

accepted the eBay/PayPal grant.

Doug was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate and recalls spending many long days and nights at Boys Town National Research Hospital in Omaha. “I benefited greatly from surgical procedures as well as emotional and informational support from the local Cleft Lip & Palate Association where the local group had meetings and events,” explains Doug. “My family and I know first-hand that having access to the best doctors, treatment facilities as well as this information and emotional support give children every chance to grow up healthy and happy.”

After Doug made the nomination, CPF completed the grant application process and received notice of the award late fall, 2007. CPF is grateful to Doug and the eBay/PayPal Champion-A-Charity grant program for its support of the Foundation and its service to patients and families.
